Long-time organic apple grower Bob Sewall and his wife Mia Mantello will explain how cider vinegar is made and speak about the many uses for vinegar from cooking to using for its multiple medicinal benefits. There will be aged vinegar to sample and vinegar for sale at the program. Bob and Mia operate Sewall Orchard in Lincolnville, Maine, the oldest certified organic orchard in Maine still in operation. The scholarship will allow the recipient to enroll in fall and complete her undergraduate degree through The American Women's College at Bay Path University, the first percent online program in the nation exclusively for women. The program is based on a unique award-winning online platform known as SOUL, Social Online Universal Learning, designed specifically to help women complete a college degree by monitoring academic progress in real time and connecting students with classmates and faculty in innovative ways. Women who are residents of Maine and have participated in at least 12 hours of services from any Maine adult education program within the last three years are eligible to apply.

Maine offers Firearms Education courses in three different formats: standard classroom, home study or online. Courses vary in presentation and teaching style as well as student work requirements outside of the classroom. Courses are taught by trained, certified volunteer instructors according to statewide standards. The Standard Classroom Course consists of 12 hours of classroom instruction.
